If there's one thing I've learned after 20 years of making women's hair look beautiful, it's that the hair tools we use can either make or break our hair. And using the right hair dryer is no exception.
Mivo HairoDry Pro

9.8 rating

The Mivo HairoDry Pro is by far our favorite choice on the market.

The first thing that is impressive about this hair dryer is its advanced heat protection technology. It works by controlling the temperature 46 times per second to ensure you'll never experience burnt hair again.

Plus, we love that it suits all hair types. With 12 different heat and speed settings, the Mivo HairoDry Pro provides a salon-like treatment even if you have the most sensitive scalp and hair.

What surprised us is how lightweight this hair dryer is, yet so powerful.

It weighs less than 0.8lbs (about two smartphones) and has a high-speed airflow of 60m/s.

It is extremely quiet. This is very important if you like to dry your hair early in the morning or late at night and you don't want to wake other households.

Without a doubt, this hair dryer is worth the money. In our opinion, we thought a hair dryer with this kind of features would cost twice as much.

In addition, Mivo offers a 1-year extended warranty and free shipping in UK. NOTE: You can use code "SAVE10" to receive 10% off on all of your orders.

The Dyson Supersonic is one of the models I get the most questions about, and it's no wonder.

There has been a lot of buzz around this hair dryer since it came out with its breakthrough technology in 2016.

Previously we used the Dyson Supersonic in our salons, but have now switched to the Mivo Pro.

That's not to say the Dyson is bad, this is probably one of the best hair dryers you can get your hands on, but it still has some downsides when you compare it to other options.

It's pretty heavy and will most likely be a bit tough on your arms and it's noisy.

However, the airflow is good and it dries the hair quite quickly.

It also comes with tons of cool accessories.

Pros
Good selection of styling accessories
Temperature control
Suitable for all hair types
Cons
Too expensive for most people ($350+)
Quite noisy (74db)

Gama IQ Perfetto was another interesting candidate that came 3rd in our test.

As it was actually the lightest hair dryer in the test, it was easy to dry and style the hair, and this is something we really liked about it.

In addition, it has a nice temperature control, although we could not get information on how many times per second the temperature is monitored.

Unlike some of the other hair dryers, it came with 3 nice accessories, including a diffuser.

On the other hand, there were a few things we didn't like very much about the Gama IQ Perfetto.

There's no negative ion technology, so if you're someone who generally struggles with frizzy hair, this isn't the best option.

Also, it was quite messy and there were fewer heat and speed combinations compared to other models.

Finally, the Gama IQ Perfetto is quite expensive and it doesn't appear to have a delayed shutdown system, so I wouldn't be sure of its long-term durability.

Pros
Temperature control
Lightweight
3 accessories
Cons
No negative ions
No delayed shutdown system

In 4th place we have T3 Cura Luxe.

This is also a hair dryer that has been getting some buzz lately, so of course we had to test it out.

We had good results with it, as there was a good variety of heat and speed combinations, but a little less than others (10 combinations), and it also has a good negative ion system.

While there was a good amount of settings and a nicely implemented negative ion system, the T3 Cura Luxe lacked a diffuser, nor did it have temperature control to protect against damage from overheating.

Also, it was one of the more expensive options, and as far as we could tell, it didn't have a delayed shutdown system either.

Pros
Has negative ion technology
10 settings for heat and speed
LCD Display
Cons
It is expensive considering the quality

Is It Worth It To Buy a Better Hair Dryer?

Most people are surprised by the fact that investing in a quality hair dryer provides you a salon-at-home treatment in less than 15 minutes – without any heat damage or burns!

Advantages of using a good hair dryer:
Protects hair from burning.
Salon-style treatment at home.*
Lightweight saves you from sore arms*
Quiet, so you don't wake up anyone in the house.
Suitable for all hair types.
3x faster drying time.
Keeps hair healthy and strong
Saves money in the long run
Checklist When Buying a Good Hair Dryer:
Powerful airflow
The best metric to look at is how strong the airflow is in meters per second (M/S). We found that dryers with at least 50 M/S can reduce most consumers' drying time by up to 50%!
Intelligent temperature monitoring
If you want full protection against heat damage to your hair when drying, you must look for a model with temperature monitoring. Usually, this is an advantage that only advanced hair dryers have, as it is difficult to implement in the design of a regular hair dryer.
Delayed shutdown system
Many hair dryer motors are designed in such a way that they wear out quickly when used frequently. In detail, when an engine goes from very hot to cold in a short period of time, the engine will wear out much faster.
Adjustable heat settings
Not all hair types are created equal, so be sure to find a good blow dryer with adjustable heat and speed settings so you can treat your hair with care.
Warranty
Look for brands that have a money-back guarantee and warranty.
What to avoid in hair dryers:
Lack of different heat and speed settings
Another misconception consumers have about hair dryer power is that there is a specific wattage level for each hair type. If you have a hair dryer that is powerful enough, with enough settings, it isn't.
Heavy and bulky design
How often do you feel like you've gone through an entire upper arm workout after drying your hair? Most conventional hair dryers can be quite heavy and quite bulky, so be sure to choose a lighter version.
Noisy models
If a hair dryer produces a lot of noise, it will most likely disturb your family members. Be sure to look for a quieter version.
